Red Deer home sales continue upward trend

Red Deer home sales continued their upward trend last month as the local housing market continues to heat up for the spring and summer season.

According to the latest market report from Central Alberta Realtors Association, there were 239 units sold in Red Deer in April, up from 205 in March and 223 units sold in April 2021.

Year-to-date numbers show 744 units sold in Red Deer during the first four months of the year. That compares with 645 units sold to the same point in 2021.

Meantime, the average sale price in Red Deer last month was $348,134, up from $335,531 in March and $343,080 in April of last year.

On average, it took 41 days to sell a home in Red Deer last month, down from 47 days in March and 50 days in April 2021.

Throughout the entire central Alberta market, there were a total 693 units sold in April, up from 680 units in March, but down from 793 units sold in April 2021.

Year-to-date numbers indicate 2,147 units sold in the region last month, which compares with 2,223 units sold during the first four months of 2021.

The average sale price, meanwhile, came in at $366,098 last month, up from $362,484 in March and $350,071 in April of last year.

On average, it took 51 days to sell a home in the central Alberta market last month, down from 61 days in March and 73 days in April 2021.
