Information sought about shooting in Maskwacis area on May 18

RCMP are looking for information from the public about a shooting believed to have taken place on May 18 on the Samson Cree Nation.

Police responded around 11 p.m. to the Enclaves, an area of the Samson Townsite, where they discovered a female had been shot.

It was then learned, police say that the suspect had already fled. The victim was treated on scene, but taken to local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No others were injured.

“Maskwacis GIS are asking residents, particularly those who were in the Enclaves on the Samson Townsite area on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., to report any suspicious activity they may have seen,” RCMP say in a release. “Police are also requesting anyone who lives in the area to check any video doorbell cameras or surveillance cameras.”
