Clearview Public Schools announces new Superintendent of Schools

Leys comes to Clearview from Fort Vermilion School Division in northern Alberta, where he is currently serving as associate superintendent. Clearview officials say he has been an educator for 27 years in the roles of teacher, assistant-principal, principal, and in division leadership roles, and has spent all of his career in small school and rural settings. Leys is also said to have a solid background in his credentials, including having received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Memorial University in Newfoundland.

“I am excited and honoured to be joining Clearview Public Schools,” says Scot Leys. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the great staff of Clearview to continue to meet the needs of students, parents and communities. I believe that my educational experience in small rural communities will be invaluable in leading Clearview to meet the upcoming challenges in education. My wife and I are thrilled to be moving into the community and look forward to making this our home.”

Leys says some recent highlights of his career include creating early intervention programs, renovating a large high school, and creating innovative high school programming. Also he spent the last two years working in a leadership team that focused on creating capacity and success in the area of literacy and numeracy instruction.

“I am looking forward to building strong and effective relationships, and see that as a key focus of my work,” says Leys. “Student success and everything we do in education relies on the way we work with students, and with each other, families and our communities.”

“I am humbled to have been chosen to lead Clearview Public Schools and am looking forward to working with staff to ensure that we all belong and we all succeed,” added Leys.

Leys grew up on his parent’s grain farm south of Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He has been married to Sheila, also a teacher, for 30 years and has three adult children who currently live in Ontario and Saskatchewan. Leys enjoys spending time with good friends, golfing, walking his dogs, and watching British mystery shows.
