ENDED: Critical water quality alert issued for Town of Three Hills

The boil water advisory for Three Hills has been cancelled.

AHS is providing information about flushing your water lines after an advisory is over.

​​After the boil water advisory ends

  • Turn on all taps and flush water lines for at least 5 minutes (10 minutes if you live in an apartment building).
  • Read instructions from the manufacturer for how to flush, clean, and sanitize containers that protect and store drinking water (called cisterns), water filters, and ice and water dispensers.​
  • Drain and refill hot water tanks that are set below 45º C.
  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle (see the instructions from the manufacturer.)

Officials with Alberta Emergency Alert have issued a Critical Alert regarding water quality in the Town of Three Hills.

The alert was issued at 7:08 p.m. on April 26.

Officials say the drinking water for the Town of Three Hills may be unsafe to drink or use, due to a critical water main break. A boil water advisory is in effect for the Town of Three Hills immediately after the water service becomes available.

Residents are advised to not consume the water, but boil the water, bring water to a rapid rolling boil for one minute prior to use. In the meantime, residents are advised to drink bottled water only, and limit use for emergencies only.

Residents are asked to take all necessary precautions, follow the directions of local authorities, and seek medical attention if necessary.
