Stettler RCMP make arrest in shooting incident

One person has been charged following a firearm incident in Stettler.

RCMP say it was sometime on April 4 when they received a complaint of a male with a gunshot wound at the Stettler Hospital. The male had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On April 7, RCMP conducted a search warrant at a home in Stettler, arresting one person without incident. Schools nearby enacted hold and secure protocol while RCMP conducted their search warrant.

The 25-year-old man, who is from Stettler, is charged with the following:

Aggravated Assault

Careless Use of a Firearm

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition while Prohibited (x2)

Possession of Ammunition while Prohibited

The man has been remanded and will appear in court April 14.

Police call the incident isolated, adding that there is no risk to the public.
