An American man has been sentenced to over three and a half years in prison following his conviction in a Red Deer drug trafficking operation.

Craig Johnson, 34, was sentenced to three years and seven months in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench on March 31 after being convicted on counts of possession of a prohibited, loaded/restricted firearm, and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was also given a 10 year firearms ban while three other counts against him were withdrawn.

The charges stemmed from a Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section investigation in 2019 which led to the arrest of one male and the seizure of drugs, a firearm and cash.

Throughout October and November that year, police conducted an investigation into a drug trafficking operation in Red Deer.
