TLC thrilled to present ‘An Evening with The Lending Cupboard’ June 16

Olympic women’s hockey team gold-medalist Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser and Ryan Straschnitzki, Humboldt Broncos bus crash survivor, will be special guests for ‘An Evening with The Lending Cupboard’ on June 16.

TLC officials say this fundraising event will feature a fun evening with a delicious dinner, silent auction, and 50/50.

“The community is ready and we want to be one of the first organizations to be able to say, ‘Join us!’ We are also very excited to have Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser and Ryan Straschnitzki with us for the evening – two very inspiring individuals,” explained Dawna Morey, TLC’s executive director.

“Without a doubt, Red Deer is a sports-minded community,” added Morey. “And what was really unique here was not only do we see two sports champions, but we also see two individuals who have a unique connection to what we do at The Lending Cupboard. Hayley, now being a full-fledged physician, would truly understand the need for an organization like ours and the equipment that we provide.”

“And Ryan, through the tragedy of his accident, has had to, over a period of time, use a number of the mobility aids that we provide here,” continued Morey. “But I think that even beyond that, they provide inspiration – both of them have had eventful journeys and I think it’s so important at a time when people need to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
