Ponoka Civic Centre lit in yellow and blue in support of Ukraine

The Town of Ponoka is lighting up the Ponoka Civic Centre this week with the Ukrainian flag colours of blue and yellow in support of Ukraine.

“We’re lighting up our building as a symbol of hope for democratic principles in the world, and for peace,” said Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson. “In this globalized 21st century, we can all agree that no nation has the right to enforce its will on another nation through the means of war.”

Town officials say the colours blue and yellow will be projected onto the Ponoka Civic Centre from sunset until sunrise each evening over the coming days as Ukraine continues to fight against the unprovoked invasion of their country by Russia.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has now entered its second week with no signs of an imminent ceasefire, despite a flood of Western sanctions targeting the Russian economy.
