The North Red Deer Regional Wastewater Services Commission (NRDRWWSC) and North Red Deer River Water Services Commission (NRDRWSC) are recognizing several outgoing directors for their contributions to utility stability in central Alberta.

Former Mayor of Blackfalds Richard Poole and former Lacombe County Councillor Ken Wigmore have both recently completed their terms with the wastewater commission. Mr. Poole, Mr. Wigmore and former Mayor of Ponoka, Rick Bonnett, also completed their terms with the water commission.

“I would like to thank Mayor Poole, Mayor Bonnett, and Councilor Wigmore for their contributions to our region’s water and wastewater services in central Alberta, says Grant Creasey, City of Lacombe Mayor and Chair for both the NRDRWSC and NRDRWWSC. “All of our citizens care about getting quality services at a fair cost. The contributions of these board members helped ensure that central Albertans have sustainable, long-term essential services without breaking the bank.”

Officials note that Wigmore was a member of the NRDRWSC since 2013 and NRDRWWSC beginning in 2012, while Bonnett served on NRDRWSC since 2013. Poole served as Blackfalds’ representative on both commissions since 2016.

“The implementation of large-scale water and wastewater lines takes years of planning and foresight, followed by ongoing careful management,” adds Creasey. “These directors successfully saw through the development of two such large-scale projects, and the future of both these service lines is made easier by their efforts.”

Officials say the outgoing directors received gifts for their years of service to central Albertans.
