Severe winter weather conditions along Highway 2 between 41 Avenue Southwest, Edmonton, to south of Red Deer are impacting travel in both directions.
Officials with Alberta Transportation say heavy snow, icy conditions and strong winds causing blowing snow are creating dangerous driving with whiteout conditions. Area highways and roads may be closed without notice.
Leduc QEII from 41 Avenue SW Edmonton to Millet: QEII DO NOT TRAVEL – A tow ban is in effect from 41 Avenue SW to Millet. Whiteout conditions are reported in the Leduc area and travel is not recommended.
Motorists are encouraged to delay all non-essential travel until conditions improve. Use extreme caution when travelling on impacted roads and highways.
