Olds RCMP respond to fire at Bowden hotel

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire at an abandoned hotel in Bowden New Year’s Eve.

On Jan.1, just after midnight, Olds RCMP received a complaint of a fire at the abandoned Bowden Hotel. Upon arrival, Mounties say the hotel was completely engulfed in flames and fire crews worked diligently to extinguish the fire.

The scene has been secured and RCMP are said to be working closely with fire investigators to determine a possible cause.

Police say it is not believed that anyone was inside, as the hotel has been abandoned for some time.

Olds RCMP are asking the public’s assistance for any information in relation to the incident.
