Red Deer Polytechnic teaming up with United Way to help those in need

Dec 2, 2021 | 8:22 AM

Red Deer Polytechnic’s 2021 Workplace Campaign to support United Way Central Alberta launched this week.

RDP officials say staff and faculty are participating in lunch and learns, a thank-you card program, and other activities designed to foster a sense of community.

Run entirely by employee volunteers, the campaign spans two weeks and seeks to engage all Red Deer Polytechnic employees with the stories and needs of community organizations in central Alberta.

According to officials, last year’s campaign raised more than $11,000 and hundreds of toys, winter clothes and food items for United Way.

The United Way campaign also aligns with the annual Toy and Food Drive administered by the Red Deer Polytechnic Ancillary and Sport Services team.

This drive collects new, unwrapped toys for children and teens, which are then donated to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau, and non-perishable food items which support the SARDP Student Food Bank.

Donations are accepted at Guest Services in the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre through December 9.
