74,038 Red Deerians now have one vaccine dose, 8 points behind provincial mark

Red Deer now sits at 129 active cases of COVID-19, down three from Thursday.

Meantime, the city’s total number of recorded cases is up two in the last day to 9,377, while recoveries are up five to 9,167.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 is 81, with the last one reported Nov. 16.

LOOK-BACK: On this day one year ago, there were 525 total cases of COVID-19 recorded in the city (+169 over the previous week), with 191 active cases (+81) and zero deaths.

Comparatively, in the past week, Red Deer has added 71 new cases, and is down 20 active cases. There have been zero deaths reported in the last week.

The Central Zone as a whole has 716 active cases as of Friday, up four from Thursday. There are 95 hospitalizations, down six, with eight people receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, down one.

The Central Zone has had 396 deaths linked to COVID-19, with none reported today.

The zone’s one-day positivity rate for Nov. 25 is 5.22 per cent with 766 tests done. Yesterday (4.64 per cent) and today mark the two lowest-one day positivity rates for the zone since Aug. 14.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Across Alberta, another 356 cases of COVID-19 were announced Friday out of 8,701 tests.

That makes for a seven-day positivity rate of 4.88 per cent. Active cases across the province are up 48 to 5,017.

-44.23 per cent are completely vaccinated
-3.02 per cent are partially vaccinated
-52.75 per cent are unvaccinated

There are 455 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, down 10, including 90 in intensive care, down eight.

Of the 365 not in ICU, 234 are unvaccinated, 20 have one dose, and 97 have two doses. The other 14 have received a third dose.

Of the 90 in ICU, 70 are unvaccinated, five have had one dose, and 13 have two doses. The remaining two have received a third dose.

The province’s death toll is now 3,235, meaning three more deaths have been reported since yesterday.

VACCINATIONS

As of Nov. 25, a total of 6,834,512 doses been administered, up 9,368 over the last 24 hours

Across the province, 88.6 per cent of Alberta’s eligible 12+ population has received at least one dose (75.4% total population), and 83.6 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated (71.1% total population).

A total of 361,387 Albertans have now received a third dose, up 3,640.

In Red Deer, 74,038 (80.8% of eligible & 69.6% *total population) people have received at least one dose, up 68 in the last day.

Meanwhile, 70,373 (76.8%/66.1%) are fully vaccinated with two doses, up 108 over the last day. (*Government of Alberta uses a population of 106,395 for Red Deer; of those 91,672 are eligible)
