Red Deer with 138 active cases of COVID-19

There are 138 active cases of COVID-19 in Red Deer, down 12 from Monday.

With seven new cases identified over the past 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus cases reported in the city since the start of the pandemic is now 9,356 while recoveries increased by 19 to 9,137.

Red Deer’s active case rate is currently 129.7 per 100k population, which compares to a rate of 88.5 in Edmonton, 62.9 in Calgary, and 136.1 in Lethbridge.

Total COVID-19 related deaths in Red Deer remains at 81, with the last one reported Nov. 16.

CENTRAL ZONE

Across Alberta Health Services (AHS) Central Zone, there are 744 active cases of COVID-19, down 74 from Monday.

There are currently 113 individuals in hospital throughout the zone, an increase of nine from Monday, with nine of those patients receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, down one from the day before.

396 virus related deaths have also occurred in Central Zone, an increase of four over the past day.

PROVINCE

Provincially, 253 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Alberta on Tuesday, bringing the total number of active cases in the province now to 5,001 – down 310 from Monday.

With 5,311 tests conducted over the past 24 hours, the province’s test positivity rate is roughly 4.7 per cent.

The number of active variant cases in Alberta is currently 1,657 or 33.1 per cent of all active cases.

There are 475 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 12 over the past day, with 94 of those patients currently in ICU, down four from Monday.

Ten more deaths were also reported on Tuesday, bringing the virus’ death toll in our province to 3,227.

VACCINATIONS

In Alberta, 6,807,172 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered as of the end of Nov. 22. That’s up 10,217 over the past day.

Of the 12+ population, 88.4 per cent has received at least one dose (75.2% total population), while 83.3 per cent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (70.8% total population).

In Red Deer, 73,887 (80.6% eligible/69.4% total) people have received at least one dose, up 42 over the past day.

Meanwhile, 70,077 residents (76.4%/65.8%) are now fully vaccinated, up 92 from Monday.
