Volunteer Opportunities on Ponoka’s Police Advisory and Community Enhancement committees

The Town of Ponoka is looking for volunteers who are passionate about Ponoka to serve on the following two Council advisory committees:

-Police Advisory Committee

-Community Enhancement Committee

Advisory committees provide insight and recommendations to Council about civic matters. Serving on a Council advisory committee is a great way for individuals to contribute to our community and help make Ponoka an even better place to live.

Police Advisory Committee

This committee provides advice and recommendations to council on community safety and crime prevention.

Being a member of the Police Advisory Committee offers many benefits including:

-Providing advice and recommendations to help foster and maintain a safe and secure community

-Providing input on the development of the local RCMP’s annual priorities and strategies for municipal policing

-Acting as a liaison between local citizens, town council, the local RCMP and the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer

Community Enhancement Committee

This newly-created committee merges the functions of the Town’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee, Economic Development Board and Heritage and Downtown Revitalization Committee into one Council advisory committee.

Being a member of the Community Enhancement Committee offers many benefits including:

-strengthening recreational opportunities for Ponoka citizens

-considering and recommending initiatives that support the Town’s strategic priorities for growth and economic health

-considering ideas to enhance and redevelop the downtown.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, November 24.

Application forms are available on the Town website at www.ponoka.ca under ‘Town Hall’ and ‘Council Appointed Boards and Committees.’

-In person at the Town Office during business hours or using the drop box just inside the doors on the west side of the Ponoka Civic Building from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays).

Interested applicants are also encouraged to review Council Committees Bylaw No. 455-21 and the Board and Committees Code of Conduct.
