Inaugural #BlackfaldsXmas Challenge begins

Nov 11, 2021 | 11:39 AM

Local businesses in the town of Blackfalds are being encouraged to get involved in this year’s inaugural donations drive for the #BlackfaldsXmas Challenge.

The Blackfalds Christmas Bureau, a partnership between Blackfalds Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), the Blackfalds Food Bank Society, and the Blackfalds Fire Department, is inviting local businesses to get involved in this year’s donations drive.

Annually, the Blackfalds Christmas Bureau supports over 100 families, including over 300 children, to provide gift cards and festive food hampers to ensure that every child gets a gift on Christmas.

With the ongoing pandemic response continuing to depress the economy and affect many local families, officials say the need this year is greater than ever. The Blackfalds Christmas Bureau is challenging local businesses to get involved, get vocal, and challenge other local businesses to raise donations to support this worthy cause.

From Nov. 15 to Dec. 3, businesses are invited to:

  • Register with Blackfalds FCSS
  • Share on their social media using #Blackfaldsxmas
  • Invite (Challenge) other businesses to get involved &
  • Collect donations of non-perishable food items and gift cards (in $10, 20 & $30 denominations)

“We look forward to a lot of friendly competition between our fabulous Blackfalds business community and can’t wait to follow the fun through #blackfaldsxmas,” shared FCSS Manager Sue Bornn.
