Officials with Red Deer Public Schools have announced that following a meeting with the Division’s insurance broker, the Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Oct. 28, to review vaccination requirements for staff.

The Board of Trustees approved the following motion:

That the Board of Trustees approves the Superintendent to develop a Draft Temporary Board Policy regarding the requirement of Division staff to provide proof of full vaccination for COVID 19 or proof of a negative rapid test every 72 hours for COVID 19.

Absent – Chair Buchanan

District officials say the Superintendent will draft a temporary policy which will come back to the Board for its consideration. It was anticipated this item would come back to the Board at its regular meeting on Nov. 10, but because of the time and in-depth nature the draft policy takes to develop, and to ensure due diligence is done, officials say this item will now come back to the Board at a Special Meeting at a date to be determined.

Elsewhere, the Board of Trustees held their Organizational Meeting on Oct. 27, following the Municipal Election.

Trustees confirmed Nicole Buchanan will serve as Chair, and Cathy Peacocke will serve as Vice Chair.

Trustees were also confirmed for various committees, as well as their liasion schools, which supports their work.
