Red Deer with 268 active cases of COVID-19

Active COVID-19 cases in the city of Red Deer continue to trend lower.

As of Tuesday, the number of active COVID cases in the city is 268, down 25 from Monday.

Recoveries, meanwhile, rose by 40 to 8,744, with the total number of coronavirus cases identified in the city since the start of the pandemic now totalling 9,088.

Red Deer’s active case rate per 100k is currently 251.9, which compares to a rate of 95.2 in Edmonton, 87.1 in Calgary, and 238.4 in Lethbridge.

Total deaths in Red Deer attributed to the virus remains at 76.

CENTRAL ZONE

There are 1,274 active cases of COVID-19 in Central Zone, down 183 from Monday.

There are 140 individuals in hospital with COVID-19 in Central Zone, down two from Monday, with 17 of those patients receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, up one from the day before.

Total deaths from the virus in Central Zone is now 364, up two from Monday.

Elsewhere, there are 1,846 active cases of coronavirus in the Calgary Zone, 1,540 in the Edmonton Zone, 1,492 in the North Zone, 752 in the South Zone, and seven additional cases in unconfirmed locations.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Alberta is reporting 315 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of active cases across the province now to 6,911 – down 669 from Monday.

With 7,544 tests conducted over the past 24 hours, the test positivity rate is roughly 4.1 per cent.

There are 691 Albertans currently in hospital with COVID-19, up two from Monday, with 159 of those patients in ICU, also up two from the day before.

The province’s death toll from the virus now totals 3,119 – up eight from Monday.

VACCINATIONS

In Alberta, 6,559,777 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered as of the end of Oct. 31. November 1 numbers were not available as of Tuesday.

Of the 12+ population, 87.1 per cent has received at least one dose (74.1% total population), while 80.3 per cent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (68.3% total population).

In Red Deer, as of Oct. 31, 72,669 (79.3% eligible/68.3% total) people have received at least one dose, up 171 over the last three days.

Meanwhile, 67,156 residents (73.3%/63.1%) are fully vaccinated, up 483.
