Don’t leave your vehicle idling and unoccupied: Red Deer RCMP
Red Deer motorists are being reminded to not leave vehicles idling and unoccupied.
“Vehicles left running and unattended present a crime of opportunity for criminals. It takes mere seconds for a thief to drive away in a vehicle that has been left unlocked and running,” Red Deer RCMP say in a release. “And if your vehicle contains your wallet with credit cards and ID, they could be used to commit identity theft crimes.”
Alberta RCMP estimates that about 33 per cent of all vehicle thefts occur while a vehicle is idling and unoccupied.
