Sep 25, 2021 | 10:12 AM

Games that matter are right around the corner for the Red Deer Rebels, but first, a little more exhibition.

The Rebels are now 2-2 on the pre-season after a 4-3 road loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday night.

Canes forward Justin Hall scored just four minutes in to break the ice.

Despite going down 5-on-3 midway through the opening frame, Red Deer held off Lethbridge and then scored twice to take a 2-1 lead.

Kai Uchacz notched his 3rd at 13:19 and then Arjun Bawa scored his first at 19:13.

But at 19:36, Peter Repcik equalized to send the teams to the dressing rooms at a stalemate.

In the second, Alex Thacker scored at 13:44 to give Lethbridge a 3-2 lead. Hall scored again at 17:59 to extend that lead to 4-2.

In the third, Carter Anderson scored his 2nd of the pre-season — a powerplay marker — for Red Deer at 5:23, but it was too little, too late.

Chase Coward stopped 18 of 22 shots This pre-season, Coward is 1-1 with 52 saves on 56 shots faced, and one shutout. He also boasts a GAA of 2.04 and a SV% of .929.

Red Deer outshot the Hurricanes 32-22, and went 1/1 on the man advantage. They also won 35 of 60 faceoffs in the game, while holding Lethbridge to 0/3 on the powerplay.

The final pre-season matchup for the Rebels goes tonight (Sept. 25) at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at ticketsalberta.com.

The regular season gets going Oct. 1 and 2 with a home and home series against Edmonton. Regular season broadcasts can be heard live on 106.7 REWIND Radio.
