Two local golfers competing at Canadian Men’s Senior Championship
Two golfers from Red Deer are among those competing at the 2021 Canadian Men’s Senior Championship in Quebec this week.
Conducted by Golf Canada, the event runs from Sept. 21-24 at Club de Golf Le Manoir Richelieu, marking the 59th playing of the national championship.
Red Deer’s golfers include Ken Griffith and Peter Innes, both from the Red Deer Golf & Country Club.
Officials say a full field of 156 participants aged 55-and-over are competing in the 72-hole stroke play tournament in hopes of becoming the first Canadian Men’s Senior Champion since Gene Elliot captured the title in 2019. The tournament was not played in 2020 due to COVID cancellations.
