Westerner Park implementing Restrictions Exemption Program

Sep 18, 2021 | 12:05 PM

In response to provincial announcements this week, Westerner Park says it will implement the Restrictions Exemption Program.

This means one of the following will be required for anyone 12 and older for events at Westerner Park:

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination through electronic or paper records, completed a minimum of 14 days prior to an event start. Single/double dose requirement dates are available here.

• Negative COVID-19 PCR or rapid test, from a privately-paid testing provider, completed within 72 hours of an event’s start time.

• Formal documentation of a medical exemption

Masks will also be required in compliance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, the organizations adds. Anyone unable to wear a mask due to an approved medical condition will be asked to provide their medical exception letter (visit Alberta.ca for details).

The Red Deer Rebels already announced they’d be implementing the same measures for its games at the Peavey Mart Centrium at Westerner Park.

“By adopting the Restrictions Exemption Program, we can do our part to help ensure the safety of our staff and all Central Albertans who enjoy the many events that take place at Westerner Park, while still operating at our capacity potential” stated Mike Olesen, Chief Executive Officer, Westerner Park “While we do not know how long these restrictions will be in place, we are planning as though they apply to all events at Westerner Park, including Canadian Finals Rodeo, Agri-Trade, and the gatherings, functions, and shows hosted by business and community groups.”

The program takes effect Sept. 20.
