Advance polling up significantly across the country

Elections Canada has released numbers showing the amount of people who voted in the upcoming election’s advance polls.

Advance voting took place Sept. 10-13.

Below are the numbers for ridings covered by rdnewsNOW and our affiliates in Rocky Mountain House, Drayton Valley and Whitecourt, as well as Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.

Red Deer-Mountain View

2021: 22,754 (1.49% increase and 25.7% of all electors)
2019: 22,419

Red Deer-Lacombe

2021: 22,883 (3.99% increase and 24.6% of all electors)
2019: 22,004

Yellowhead

2021: 18,404 (0.62% increase and 25.3% of all electors)
2019: 18,291

Battle River-Crowfoot

2021: 16,818 (7.03% increase and 20.1% of all electors)
2019: 15,714

Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner

2021: 13,956 (16.72% increase and 17.7% of all electors)
2019: 11,957

Lethbridge

2021: 18,248 (10.05% increase and 20.5% of all electors)
2019: 16,581

According to preliminary figures, around 5.78 million people voted in advance polls across the country, an 18.46 per cent increase from 2019.
