Classic car show returns to Red Deer & Sylvan Lake twice a week

Red Deer Cruise Night is back every Thursday starting July 8.

Grand opening night and each week go from 6-9 at the Parkland Mall parking lot.

CEO Dave Burden predicts it’ll be a lot of fun.

“We’re all pretty excited to get back so we can talk to people again instead of just doing drive-bys,” he says. “Being the first static show, and a really hot day potentially, we’re hoping to see over 400 vehicles easy.”

The parking lot has capacity for more than 800, which Burden hopes they can get closer to as vendor and entertainment availability picks back up.

“We’ve created a very family-friendly environment. People can bring their cars out, talk about them, you can talk to other people to get advice on how to fix yours, and it’s an easy way for us as a community to get together, especially if you’re interested in classic vehicles in any way, shape or form,” he says.

“We hope all come out and have a good time. We want people to get out of their houses and congregate with other humans as we need to do.”

Burden asks anyone who attends to remain respectful, however, because, “COVID is still around,” he notes. There will be sanitizer on site.

“We do recommend, unless you know the person, not to run across the parking lot and jump into someone else’s arms, so just follow common sense safety protocols.”

Admission for those wanting to enter their car into the show is $2 upon driving up, while pedestrians and spectators get in for free. A donation box will be available, however. Any excess proceeds at the end of the season will go to a charity of the show’s choice.

“If you have pride in your ride, we’d love to see it, and maybe others will become addicted to it as well,” Burden adds.

Burden and crew have also taken over Sylvan Lake Cruise Night which is happening every Friday from 6-9 at the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library parking lot (4715 50 Avenue).
