Canadian Multiculturalism Day: Minister Aheer
Leela Sharon Aheer, Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women, issued the following statement on Canadian Multiculturalism Day June 27.
“Multiculturalism is a choir, where many different voices join together to create beautiful music. It is also the foundation of this province, and the key to building a vibrant and inclusive future.
“When you look around the schools, workplaces and communities in Alberta, you are looking at the result of generations of diverse groups working together. As the first minister responsible for multiculturalism in Alberta in 25 years, I’m proud of the progress we have made in building a multicultural society.
“Today, on Canadian Multiculturalism Day, let’s embrace the many cultures that make up this province and this country. Join an event to learn more about different traditions and beliefs, share your culture with neighbours and coworkers and commit to building welcoming, inclusive communities every day of the year.”
