Sylvan Lake Gulls go 1-2 on opening weekend

The Sylvan Lake Gulls were 1-for-3 in their first ever weekend of Western Canadian Baseball League action over the weekend.

Friday night, the Gulls played their first game in franchise history at Gulls Field at Pogadl Park. Unfortunately for the Gulls they were outslugged by the visiting Edmonton Prospects in a 16-9 loss.

Saturday was a different story as the Gulls earned their first ever win, a 6-0 triumph over the visiting Okotoks Dawgs (Red).

Sunday afternoon, the Gulls went to extra innings for the first time and came up just short in a 12-10 loss to the Prospects.

The Gulls are back in action Tuesday night at Gulls Field versus the Prospects with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m.

Around 300 fans were allowed into Gulls Field for each of the team’s home games on opening weekend. The team plans to increase capacity as conditions allow at the stadium which is still under construction.
