travelling exhibit on until august

Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery is re-opening June 15

Jun 4, 2021 | 10:00 AM

The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery is set to re-open June 15 in line with Stage 2 of the province’s Open for Summer plan.

Among other things, visitors can check out the travelling art exhibit A Prairie Vernacular: Folk & Contemporary Art Narratives of Life On the Canadian Prairies until August 16. This exhibit features over 50 artists.

“The Prairie Vernacular exhibition is a delightful and affectionate look at the Prairies, through the eyes of artists. All of the artworks reflect a deep love of place, and the personal memories, reflections and fantasies that are rooted in the prairie landscape,” says Lorna Johnson, MAG Executive Director. “It is wonderful to see how the so-called folk artists have inspired some of Canada’s best-known artists to create works that celebrate prairie sensibilities. It is a lively and expansive show, and I hope visitors will soon be able to come and see it in person.”
