Missing Chilliwack, B.C. woman found deceased

The search for a missing Chilliwack, B.C. woman has come to a sad and tragic ending.

Chilliwack RCMP say the body of a 23-year-old missing woman has been found.

Mounties were notified of the discovery of a woman’s body in the Fraser River near Coquitlam on June 2.

Police have confirmed it as the body of Shaelene Keeler Bell, who was reported missing to Chilliwack RCMP on Jan. 31. Mounties say the woman’s family has been notified and has asked for privacy as they grieve.

There is no evidence to support criminal involvement in Shaelene’s death, police add, however, the B.C. Coroners Service is conducting its own fact-finding investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means the death occurred.

Steph Bell-Pollard, of Sylvan Lake, who spoke to rdnewsNOW Iast month, had described her sister Shaelene, the mother of two young boys, as funny, smart and kind.

“I just want to thank people for all their love and support during this difficult time. This is the hardest thing my family has ever had to go through,” Bell-Pollard told rdnewsNOW on Friday.

For those wishing to help Shaelene’s young family moving forward, a GoFundMe campaign launched this spring to help with the search, remains active.

Neither the RCMP nor B.C. Coroners Service have any more information available to share at this time.
