Innisfail RCMP arrest two, charge three after report of break and enter

Jun 4, 2021 | 10:06 PM

Two men are facing charges after Innisfail RCMP disrupted a break and enter in progress early Friday morning.

On June 4, at approximately 1 a.m., Innisfail RCMP received a report that someone had broken into the Horn Hill transfer station on Highway 42 near Penhold.

RCMP members responded and observed individuals still on the compound. Mounties say the individuals fled on foot once they became aware of officer presence.

However, with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service, one male was tracked and located at a neighbouring acreage. With the assistance from the public, a second male was located walking west along Highway 42.

Darrel Victor Hokanson, 43, from Rumsey and Sheldon Richard Metcalfe, 49, from the Red Deer area, have been jointly charged with breaking and entering.

Sheldon Metcalfe, meanwhile, is further charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and disobeying an order from the court.

Hokanson was released and is scheduled to attend Red Deer provincial court on July 27. Metcalf is currently being held awaiting a bail hearing.

In addition, RCMP say a third suspect, Francis George Pander, is currently wanted on a warrant for break and enter. Pander is described as 5’6” tall, 150 pounds, with blue eyes and blonde hair.

RCMP are requesting assistance in trying to locate Francis Pander. If you have any information as to his whereabouts, contact Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342.
