The future of Red Deer College will be shared with the community next week.

A virtual event has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4 at which time officials will make a “future-focused announcement” regarding RDC.

Advanced Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides, RDC President Dr. Peter Nunoda and RDC Board Chair Guy Pelletier will be taking part in the announcement.

Yesterday, the provincial government shared its future vision, Alberta 2030: Building Skills for Jobs“, officials say provides a framework for the province’s post-secondary sector moving forward.

“RDC is pleased to welcome Minister Nicolaides to RDC on May 4, so that students, faculty, staff and community members can hear from the Minister and learn about RDC’s future role within Alberta’s vibrant post-secondary system,” reads a media release.

The former NDP government gave the green light in March 2018 for RDC to pursue university status. That was put on hold by the UCP government pending its review of post-secondary education in Alberta.
