Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools students raise roughly $8,720 for Terry Fox Foundation

Officials with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) are bursting with pride in the amount of support shown by students in the district’s annual Terry Fox Run.

Results from the 2020 Terry Fox Run indicate that 12 schools in the Division raised close to $8,720 this year for cancer research. Since the inception of the Terry Fox Foundation, Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools has donated over $371,773 towards the fight against cancer.

This past fall, the following schools hosted and participated in Terry Fox runs:

  • École Camille J. Lerouge School in Red Deer
  • École Mother Teresa School in Sylvan Lake
  • École Our Lady of the Rosary School in Sylvan Lake
  • Holy Family School in Red Deer
  • Holy Trinity Catholic School in Olds
  • Maryview School in Red Deer
  • St. Elizabeth Seton School in Red Deer
  • St. Gregory the Great Catholic School in Red Deer
  • St. Martin de Porres School in Red Deer
  • St. Matthew Catholic School in Rocky Mountain House
  • St. Teresa of Avila School in Red Deer
  • St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School in Red Deer

“We are thrilled with the funds our school communities have raised within our Division for cancer research,” said Kathleen Finnigan, Superintendent of Schools at Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools, in a press release. “The efforts of our staff and students participating in the Terry Fox run, along with their commitment to raising funds and awareness is an accomplishment worth celebrating!”
