The Town of Drayton Valley has released feedback results from the 2021 RCMP Policing Survey for the Drayton Valley and Breton RCMP detachments.

241 people participated in the survey. The majority of respondents (53%) lived in town, while the rest lived in various areas of Brazeau County. 60% of respondents were female and 34% male, while the rest chose ‘other’ or preferred not to say. 41% of people were in the 35 to 54 age group, and most said they worked in industry or business.

The top three policing priorities residents want to see from RCMP in 2021, in addition to regular service calls, are major property crime (76%), illegal drug-related offences (48%), and then a tie between minor property crime, and increased focus on prolific offenders (42%).

Other priority options included in the survey were family violence (24%), impaired driving (21%), crimes against persons (17%), traffic enforcement (10%), youth engagement and development (9%), community engagement (7%), and hate crimes (4%).
