Feb 17, 2021 | 7:55 PM

While investigating property crimes in and around Sundre on Monday, the RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit located and arrested 34-year-old Kirk Clark on outstanding warrants for breaching release conditions, and 38-year-old Dana Patterson on outstanding warrants for possessing break and enter tools.

Police say that a search of the vehicle they were travelling in resulted in the seizure of a long rifle, multiple rounds of ammunition and several pieces of identification including a Canadian passport.

Clark and Patterson, both from Sundre, have each been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of weapon obtained by crime and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Clark has additional charges of possessing a weapon contrary to a court order and driving a motor vehicle while prohibited contrary to the Traffic Safety Act.

In relation to an investigation regarding a stolen vehicle and attempted catalytic converter theft that occurred in Didsbury on Feb. 14, RCMP have charged Clark with mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.

Clark has been remanded in custody and will be appearing in Okotoks provincial court this Friday.

Patterson was released to appear in Didsbury provincial court on Mar. 22.

Police say the ammunition recovered is very distinct and that most of the rifle rounds are “reloads” with blue tips. If this is yours, or you have information regarding the owner of the ammunition, contact Sergeant Gary Maclaren of the RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit at 403-704-6283.
