Drayton Valley RCMP Report: February 4 – February 11

February 4

8:57 AM – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a possible sighting of a vehicle stolen recently. Members attended area and patrolled, vehicle not located at that time, vehicle was later recovered on a lease site.

9:04 am – Brazeau County – RR 72 – Complainant reporting an attempted theft of their truck. Male and female suspects. Both took off into a field. Members attended, tracks followed, suspects not located.

9:54 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Complainant reporting a Fraud. Complainant bought an item online and e-transferred the money. Item not received. Person who received the money is now not answering complainant. Matter is under investigation.

10:36 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting an aggressive male attempting to kick the door down. Members attended and located known male outside of building. Male wanted to pick up some belongings. Members assisted with the retrieval of belongings.

10:51 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting they were southbound on Hwy 22 when a deer came out of the ditch and collided with their vehicle.

12:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 50A Street – Alarm company advises of an alarm at a business. Panic alarm. Member attended, no emergency, accident. False alarm.

1:23 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a female is causing a disturbance at Independent Grocers. Member attended, female identified as known female who had already left the location.

8:18 pm – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting female was bear maced. Members attended, female taken to hospital. Matter is under investigation.

9:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for stunting.

February 5

3:58 pm – Drayton Valley – A male called police reporting he had given his laptop to an unknown female. The male believed the laptop was stolen. When police arrived the laptop was already returned.

4:07 pm – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Police responded to a call of a male sleeping in the hallway of an apartment building. The male was taken to MAT program.

4:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Police were called to a store where a female was found to be using drugs in the change room. Members attended and located two females well known to police. No drugs were located on the females and they left the store.

5:54 pm – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant called to report a stolen quad. The quad was taken in September 2020 and not returned. The suspect lives in Nova Scotia. The investigation is ongoing.

10:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – 911 hang up – RCMP responded to the area of south Petro Canada. Members made patrols in the area but were unable to locate the phone. The phone number belonged to a person well known to police.

February 6

3:17 am – Drayton Valley – A member attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Frank Maddock High School. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. Police did not continue pursuit for safety of the public. Charges are pending.

9:05 am – Drayton Valley – Police responded to the Dodson Plaza. A tunnel had been located in a snow pile. There was an indication someone was trying to live in the tunnel. As this was an extremely hazardous situation, members caved in the tunnel.

10:16 am – Drayton Valley – Police responded to a suspicious person kicking mailboxes near the Econorest. Members made patrols in the area but were not able to locate the suspicious person.

7:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a male doing drugs in the bathroom of a gas station. Suspect was located, however, no drugs were found. Male told to leave the store.

February 7

2:04 am – Drayton Valley – A garage alarm was activated in the area of 41 Ave in Drayton Valley. The homeowner was not home but was alerted by a security app. Police attended the residence and found the alarm to be false.

5:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Westwinds parking lot. Police were called to the parking lot behind the Westwinds Motor Inn. A car window had been smashed and the vehicle had been rummaged through. Police have video surveillance and the investigation continues.

6:08 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Westwinds parking lot. RCMP returned to the Westwinds for another car window smashed. An air compressor and cash were stolen.

February 8

8:54 am – Drayton Valley – St. Anthony School – Complainant reporting their SUV stolen while they were inside the school. A vehicle had been left running with keys inside. Vehicle recovered at Woodhaven Apartments. The investigation led to 2 suspects being identified and a search warrant being conducted on a residence in Drayton Valley. 34-year-old Logan Bruner has been arrested for several outstanding warrants as well as new charges including: 2x possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Unauthorized possession of an explosive substance, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, 2x possession of a controlled substance, 8x fail to comply with a release order. Bruner was held for a Judicial Release Hearing and was remanded into custody until February 11, 2021. 25-year-old Terrence Bergseth of Fox Creek has also been charged with: 2x Theft of a motor vehicle, 2x drive uninsured motor vehicle on a highway. Bergseth was held for a Judicial Release Hearing and was remanded until February 12, 2021.

11:04 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of money a week ago. Known persons were cleaning the house last week and now a considerable amount of money is missing.

11:23 am – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd. – Complainant reporting an attempted break and enter and property damage. All the handles were cut off their trailer and suspects left a pair of bolt cutters.

11:37 am – Brazeau County – RR 90 – Complainant advised they were on a lease road and pulling a trailer when they slid on the ice and the trailer jack-knifed and went into ditch causing damage to rear of truck.

12:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant calling to report a person driving an uninsured vehicle and unregistered vehicle. Member patrolled the area, however vehicle and driver not located.

2:52 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd. – Third-party complaint received regarding a person who had a handgun fall out of their pocket when they exited their vehicle. Further investigation revealed that this incident did not happen.

3:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting male attempting to steal items and refusing to leave the store. Member attended and located known male who was very intoxicated. Male arrested for being intoxicated in public and taken to Detachment where he was released when sober.

3:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting male is yelling and throwing things around. Member attended and located male who was irritated that Service Canada had not sent his cheque yet.

5:24 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reporting a black Jeep swerving all over the road and speeding. 4 occupants. Vehicle not located, Breton Detachment advised.

7:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting female wearing a hoody and carrying a backpack is wandering around. Seemed suspicious. Member attended and located known female who left when requested to do so.

7:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Madison Avenue – Complainant reporting banned male is refusing to provide identification. Member attended, male had been advised that they were banned, however, had not been served notice. Male was cooperative.

February 9

2:32 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant repotting open gate at shop. Member attended, premises secured, gate had been left open.

9:48 am – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting a suspicious male in red and black sweat pants in a gold civic had taken a car batter from their yard. Member located the vehicle and attempted to contact the registered owner as there were no occupants.

10:05 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – Complainant reporting they had left their 2000 black Toyota Tacoma running and someone stole it. Members located vehicle. Individuals have been arrested and charged.

10:18 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a theft of their cell phone. Ex had confiscated their cell phone when they broke up 8 months ago, complainant left and is now living in BC, however wants their cell phone back.

11:53 am – Drayton Valley – 46 Avenue – Child custody matter. No parenting order in place. Complainant advised to contact lawyer to get custody order.

3:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 38 Street – Complainant calling to report a family member fell for a scam. As a result, family member provided SIN number and other information.

4:40 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting a break and enter. Male observed climbing the outer railing and entering a suite. Members attended and located known male who was arrested for break and enter.

4:53 am – Drayton Valley – 47A Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious female wearing a black coat, black pants, black face mask. Member attended and conducted patrols in the area. Female not located.

5:33 pm – Drayton Valley – 542 Avenue – Complainant reporting they located a ceremonial dagger in the parking lot. Member attended and seized property.

8:29 pm – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting a possible impaired driver. Male in a silver 2020 F-150 pulled into the parking lot and into a handicapped stall. Male was throwing things around.

9:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 42 Street – Complainant reporting family member is causing issues. Very intoxicated and punching walls and punched one of the family members. Members attended, male arrested and taken to cells. Male is on an order to be away from residence and other occupants.

10:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant reporting a hit and run outside residence. Black sedan hit their vehicle. Member attended location. Vehicle involved located down the street. Matter is still under investigation.

10:19 pm – Brazeau County – Members were called to a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, no persons around. Vehicle had recently been stolen.

11:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Alarm to Evergreen school, member attended, false alarm.

February 10

6:34 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting possible theft of camper sometime within last two months.

8:35 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Avenue –Complainant reporting there is wire insulation blocking the road. Member attended and cleared the trash off the road.

8:59 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver. Black hatchback car is swerving and speeding and passing on double solid line. Vehicle and driver located and spoken to.

10:46 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting harassment. Both parties spoken to and advised to stop communication.

3:01 pm – Drayton Valley – Beckett Road – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued violation ticket for driving while unauthorized.

3:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on friend. Member attended residence and spoke with individual.

5:28 pm – Rocky Rapids – Complainant calling to report a family dispute. Member attended and spoke with all parties. Parties were separated for the night.

7:23 pm – Brazeau County – Alarm at business. Members attended, false alarm.

8:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court Trailer Court – Complainant reporting a fraud. Complainant advised they bought a Ford F-250 and thinks it may be stolen.
