High Efficiency Updates

Rocky’s Clean Energy Improvement Program could open to residents by March

Feb 3, 2021 | 3:22 PM

The Town of Rocky Mountain House has released their January update for the new Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP).

The program intends to allow land owners in town to take out a loan through the program to upgrade their property with clean energy and high efficiency updates, such as solar panels, high efficiency hot water tanks etc.

Before residents can begin utilizing CEIP, a Master Program Agreement will be required with the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) which the Town is expecting to have this month.

The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association will be signing the agreement on behalf of the MCCAC.

This coming Monday, February 8, the CEIP website is expected to launch as a sort of early version.

Administration noted that they’ve already received responses from multiple homeowners wanting to take part in the program.

The Town of Rocky Mountain House website states that the official application intake will not be until March.

The Town also hopes to recruit contractors through the website as well, with a focus on hiring local.

Whoever is hired, will be given additional training for the various upgrades that would be covered under Clean Energy Improvements.

As funding will be limited, the program will be on a first come first serve basis.
