Red Deer with 201 active COVID-19 cases

Alberta reported another 785 cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

That’s out of 13,575 test results over the past 24 hours for a positivity rate of about 5.8 per cent.

There are now 12,189 active cases in Alberta, down 245 from Thursday. The province recorded another 1,017 recoveries on Friday to bring Alberta’s total to 101,779.

The number of Albertans hospitalized due to COVID-19 sits at 796a decrease of 13. That includes 124 people in intensive care, 12 less than Thursday.

Another 13 deaths from COVID-19 were reported Friday to bring Alberta’s total to 1,402.

Alberta has administered 74,110 vaccine doses, including 7,157 on Thursday.

In Red Deer, the number of active cases as of Friday sits at 201, up five from Thursday. There have been 1,466 recoveries, an increase of 16 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to the city rose by 21 to 1,680.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Red Deer remains 13.

Red Deer County has 42 active cases of COVID-19 as of Friday, up two, while Sylvan Lake has 34, also an increase of two.

There are 78 active cases in Clearwater County (Rocky Mountain House), an increase of seven.

Lacombe County has 28 active cases, down one from Thursday, and the city of Lacombe has 30, also down one.

Ponoka County saw its active case count go from 345 on Thursday to 352 on Thursday, an increase of seven.

Mountain View County has 19 active cases, down from Thursday, Olds has 27, up two, and Kneehill County remains with nine. Stettler and County remains with six active cases.

The Central Zone has 1,155 active cases as of Friday, an increase of three, with 76 hospitalizations, an increase of one. There are 13 people in intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, decrease of two.

There was one new COVID-19 death reported in the Central Zone on Friday – a man in his 80s who passed away on Jan. 13. The case included comorbidities. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the zone to 66.
