Brazeau County Council has appointed an interim Chief Administrative Officer.

Shawn McKerry will serve as interim CAO starting on January 22, 2021.

Most recently, McKerry served as Director of Fire Services for the City of Fort Saskatchewan, where he led a multifaceted organization with a focus on modernization and efficiency, according to a press release.

He has previously held Deputy Fire Chief positions in Parkland County and Yellowhead County, where he gained a strong understanding of rural municipalities. He has also served nearly 20 years in the Fire Service and has over 12 years of experience as a senior municipal administrator.

McKerry holds an Administration degree from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in Emergency Management from Charles Sturt University in Australia.

“All of Council looks forward to working with Shawn to continue to put citizens first, and make Brazeau County an even better place to live, work, play, and do business,” says Reeve Bart Guyon.

McKerry says, “I’m excited to join the Brazeau County team and look forward to working with all members of the organization to address the current challenges and work towards new and exciting opportunities.”

He will replace outgoing CAO Jocelyn Whaley, who is leaving the position.
