Drayton Valley RCMP Report: November 5 – November 12

November 5

9:28 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reporting theft of copper wire from lease site overnight.

9:35 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of copper wire from lease site.

10:14 AM – Brazeau County – RR 63 – Complainant reporting their former tenant had damaged trees on the property. Occurred sometime in the past month.

12:13 pm – Drayton Valley – Request to assist Edmonton Police Service in locating missing person Steven Woytowich. Woytowich is apparently in the Drayton Valley area. Anyone with any information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service or the Drayton Valley RCMP.

12:47 PM – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant called to report a young male was attempting to wave them down near HW Pickup. Male appeared to be upset. Members attended. Known male youth with several issues was located once again attempting to get into a residence with an Xbox as he wanted to play.

1:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting a male with a Mohawk is running with an ax. No threats were made. Member attended and located known male who advised they had been chasing their dog and had not thought about dropping the ax when they ran after the dog.

1:21 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Complainant attended detachment to advise that they are concerned about their son who hasn`t been feeling well lately. Several strange messages had been received. Members searched the area for the male and vehicle. Neighbouring detachments were advised to be on the lookout for the vehicle. Male arrested and taken to hospital for help.

2:49 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting theft of lumber and plasma cutter over the past 2 months. Complainant advised that someone was trying to sell the plasma cutter on Facebook.

2:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting shoplifting from liquor store. Male stole a bottle of rum on Friday. Wants male banned from store.

5:26 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting an aircraft incident approximately 4 miles south of intersection. Blue single-engine high wing aircraft low level and aggressive flying. Lost sight of plane. No crash, no emergency.

5:31 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reporting erratic driver in a small dark GMC SUV, passed the complainant in a no-passing zone.

5:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – Complainant reporting cheque fraud. Complainant was asked to deposit a cheque into her account and then they were asked to withdraw the money. Complainant went back to the bank and was advised the cheque was fake.

5:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 41 Avenue – Complainant reporting a female is locked in the building where they work. They have tried to set off the alarm, however unable to. Female called back shortly after advising they got out of the building and members did not need to respond.

6:59 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting no lights on a trailer. Two-tone Ford Super-Duty is hauling a gooseneck trailer with no lights.

November 6

5:30 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle along the fence near their business. Dirty truck with 3 male occupants. Member attended and patrolled the area. Vehicle not located.

5:55 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a dead deer in the middle of the road. Member attended area and located deer and moved it off the road.

10:49 am – Drayton Valley – A parent called reporting their child was skipping school. Matter referred to Child and Family Services.

1:49 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Collision between a vehicle and a deer.

2:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Report that 2 people broke into a camper stored on a business lot, several items stolen.

2:26 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Collision between a vehicle and a deer.

4:34 pm – Brazeau County – Violet Grove – Police were called to assist Child and Family Services with a welfare check; located and arrested a male on conditions not to be at the residence.

4:49 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Report of a female on the walking path that may need assistance, not dressed for the weather. Police attended and could not locate the female.

5:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Meier Avenue – Report of a possible structure fire. Police and Fire attended, there was no fire, just smoke from a pot left on the stove.

8:31 pm – Drayton Valley – Request for a welfare check on a child. Police attended, no issues identified. Child and Family Services notified of the concern.

November 7

4:53 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a homeless person setting up a tent in the area.

5:00 pm – Brazeau County – Twp 490 – Complaint of a suspicious/unwanted person at a business. The person left prior to police attendance.

7:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Report of an intoxicated, unwanted person in a residence. Police attended, the person had already left.

10:34 pm – Drayton Valley – Northview Crescent – While on patrol members observed a snowmobile operating in town. A traffic stop was attempted, but the snowmobile fled. The snowmobile was located a short time afterwards stuck in a snowbank. Tickets issued to the operator and the snowmobile was towed as it was not insured.

November 8

1:48 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Report of an impaired driver. Police located the vehicle parked at the owner’s residence, the owner was spoken to and warned about driving while impaired.

8:16 am – Parkland County – RR 60 – Break and enter into a shop overnight. 4 firearms stolen, matter is under investigation.

8:27 am – Parkland County – RR 60 – Attempted break and enter to a different shop near the same location as above. Nothing reported stolen.

8:56 am – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Report of a structure fire. Police were updated prior to attendance that it was just a faulty furnace and there was no fire.

11:38 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Stolen trailer from a business. Trailer is a 12-foot car hauler, unknown plate.

3:36 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Report of a suspicious vehicle/person. Police attended and the vehicle and people were gone.

7:46 pm – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Report of a vehicle idling on private property. Police attended, the vehicle was no longer there.

November 9

9:41 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complaint of a vehicle driving fast and fishtailing. Police patrolled the area, unable to locate the vehicle.

11:26 am – Drayton Valley – Police were called to do a welfare check on a youth. Police located the youth, no issues found.

1:40 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Police were called to keep the peace during a landlord/tenant issue. No issues occurred and nothing criminal was reported.

2:03 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Hit and run occurred sometime during the day in the Walmart parking lot. The victim’s red 2019 Dodge Ram was hit on the rear driver’s side.

2:27 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Vacant building broken into sometime in the past 2 months and copper piping stripped out.

3:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Report of a possible break and enter. Nobody was seen, but the complainant heard what they thought was an animal in a vacant duplex. Police attended, the building was secure, no forced entry, and nothing heard from inside.

3:52 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of a 2-vehicle collision on the weekend. A small car attempted to pass a snowplow, lost control, and bumped into the plow. No injuries.

5:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Vehicle reported stolen. When member arrived, the vehicle was already returned. It was a lack of communication between the owner and a potential seller, nothing criminal.

6:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 759 – Collision between a vehicle and a deer.

6:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Found property near the Omniplex.

7:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Wellbeing check requested on a female across the street. Police attended and located the female who is known to police and is currently warranted out of Rocky Mountain House. She was arrested and held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

8:09 pm – Parkland County – RR 51 – Garage broken into and unknown items stolen including a holiday trailer. The caller was out of town and will provide further information when they get back. No other details on stolen property provided.

November 10

6:25 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Suspicious vehicle lost a tire and stopped in the middle of the road and was abandoned by the occupants. Members attended, the vehicle was towed and did not appear to have been reported stolen.

7:08 am – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Collision between a semi and an elk. Police attended to euthanize the animal.

7:38 am – Drayton Valley – Request from North Bay Police Service in Ontario with identifying and interviewing a suspect on a file they believe lives in Drayton Valley.

10:27 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting they were travelling west of Elk River Road when a deer came out of the ditch and collided with the front of their truck.

3:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting they were parked in the parking lot and when they returned to their vehicle they noted damage to the driver’s side tail light and fender of their 2019 Dodge Ram.

3:59 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting they thought they heard someone yelling at a property across the highway. Members attended, spoke with the occupants who advised they were having issues with their son who has some behavioural issues.

5:08 pm – Brazeau County Hwy 621 – Complainant reporting an abandoned truck. Dark grey Ford F-350, no lights. Members attended location, vehicle gone upon arrival.

5:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant reporting known male had the subs that were stolen previously from their vehicle. Complainant did not want charges known male turned over the subs.

November 11

3:01 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant requesting a well-being check on a male who appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel in the parking lot. Member attended and spoke with the male who advised they were tired and were going to sleep for a bit in the vehicle. No issues.

9:42 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting two suspicious persons inside the vestibule of the ATB. Members attended and located known individuals who advised they were cold and had come in to warm up.

12:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting a non-resident has been in the bathroom for over two hours. Members attended and located known female who was yelling and ranting. Members were able to convince female to leave.

1:31 pm – Drayton Valley – Bank of Montreal – Complainant reporting an aggressive male is loitering in the vestibule. Members attended and spoke with male who left without issue.

2:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting that known male poured something into the gas tank of their vehicle. Member attended and advised them to take vehicle to a mechanic and get a mechanical report and to attend and provide a statement.

3:28 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer court – Complainant attended the detachment to report an assault. Members attended and arrested male.

4:06 pm – Rocky Rapids – 911 open line, nothing heard. Member attended location and confirmed all was fine no emergency.

8:33 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer Court – Complainant reporting they would like to get some belongings from their residence. Member attended and kept the peace while complainant retrieved their belongings.

8:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting known male is in their apartment building in the parking lot and won’t leave. Accusation that male broke their vehicle and is currently trying to fix it. Member attended and located male in his vehicle who advised that the complainant had asked them to come and boost the vehicle. Same confirmed through text messages. Member asked male to leave and he did so without issue.

November 12

7:52 am – Brazeau County – 63 Street – Complainant reporting suspicious activity. Member attended and spoke with complainant.
