Red Deer drops two active COVID-19 cases

Red Deer has shed two active cases of COVID-19 and now sits with 37, according to Tuesday’s online update from the province.

The city has now had 138 recoveries from the virus and 175 total cases, up by three and one, respectively.

Red Deer County also dropped two active cases of the virus in the past 24 hours and now has eight. Sylvan Lake is down to one active case.

There are now seven active cases in Lacombe County while the city of Lacombe has two, an increase of one in both municipalities.

Rocky Mountain House (Clearwater County) is up to four active cases. Mountain View County and the County of Stettler remain with none. Olds has two active cases and Kneehill County has five.

Ponoka County remains under a provincial COVID-19 watch with 47 active cases as of Tuesday, two more than Monday. The majority of the county’s cases are in Mackwacis, where schools are closed for a third straight week to help prevent further spread of the virus. According to the Maskwacis Education Schools Commission, no cases have been reported at any of their 11 schools.

The Central Zone now has 165 active cases and two hospitalizations as of Tuesday.

Province-wide, Alberta confirmed another 422 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The total number of cases across the province 26,155.

There are 4,738 active cases, up 261 from Monday, and 21,108 recovered cases, up 159.

There are currently 123 Albertans in hospital, 16 in ICU.

Two more deaths from virus were reported as Alberta’s total rose to 309.

The province conducted 9,325 tests in the past 24 hours.
