Red Deer down to 31 active COVID-19 cases

Red Deer continues to see more recoveries from COVID-19.

Friday’s updated online numbers from the province show 129 people in Red Deer have now recovered from the novel coronavirus, an increase of four from Thursday.

The number of active cases in the city is down for a third day in a row, going from 32 on Thursday to 31 as of Friday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Red Deer now sits at 160, an increase of three.

Red Deer County has seven active cases as of Friday, an increase of two, while Sylvan Lake remains with none. Lacombe County has also seven active cases (down two) and the city of Lacombe has four (down one).

Ponoka County is trending back upward and now has 40 active cases, an increase of five from Thursday, and remains under a provincial COVID-19 Watch with a rate of 145.6 cases per 100,000 population.

Elsewhere, the County of Stettler has two active cases, a decrease of five, Mountain View County has three (down one) and the town of Olds has two (down two).

The Central Zone now has 126 active cases.

Alberta set another daily record of new COVID-19 cases on Friday with 432 cases confirmed.

The total number of COVID-19 cases across the province stands at 24,261. There are 3,651 active cases, up 132 from Thursday, and 20,310 recovered, up 296.

There are currently 112 Albertans in hospital, 14 in ICU. There have been 300 deaths, up four from Thursday.

The province conducted 15,208 tests in the past 24 hours.
