Rocky RCMP Report: October 2-14

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of October 2-14

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

October 2

8:57 A.M. – After receiving a tip from the public, police recovered 2 stolen vehicles and a Polaris Razor behind a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. The black BMW had been reported stolen from the Sunchild First Nations Reserve a month prior while the black Chev Tahoe had been stolen from the Brazeau Dam area back in August. The Razor was stolen from the Drayton Valley area in September.

2:13 P.M. – Wallet reported stolen out of a vehicle while parked at a RMH residence.

3:32 P.M. – Multiple complaints received of an intoxicated male passed out in the parking lot of Canadian Tire. Police attended and arrested the individual who was released after sobering up.

7:45 P.M. – Complaint of campers at Abraham Lake yelling and screaming. Police attended and warned the individuals.

10:17 P.M. – Call of a suspicious intoxicated male trying car door handles in Caroline.

4:42 A.M. – B&E into a RMH liquor store. The front glass doors were smashed in and the culprit stole bottles of Vodka before running off. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie and white shoes.

October 4

6:24 P.M. – Police attended a 2 vehicle collision on SecHwy # 752 in RMH. An adult male was arrested for Impaired Driving after liquor and marihuana were located in his vehicle. He refused to provide breath samples. Charges are pending.

October 5

8:50 A.M. – Report of a chunk of concrete thrown through a window of a RMH business.

3:37 P.M. – CAT Skid-steer stolen from a SeaCan container at the Caroline arena on Sunday. A newer red DODGE crew cab, with a gooseneck trailer, was seen leaving the property. The Skidsteer was recovered with the trailer in Lacombe.

4:15 P.M. – 2005 TRAIL LITE – Trail Cruiser camper stolen from the Swan Lake area, west of Caroline, over the last week.

6:12 P.M. – Two trucks were vandalized while parked at a trailhead at Corkscrew Mountain on the Forestry Trunk Road. The windows were smashed and the culprit(s) stole a generator, boat motor, and 2 firearms.

10:10 P.M. – Rocky RCMP Crime Reduction Unit conducted a curfew check on an individual who resides at a rural property on Range Road 7-5 & Twp Rd 36-2, Clearwater County. He was not at home at the time but returned later. He was subsequently arrested for breaching previous release conditions and for “possession of stolen property” after a stolen travel trailer was discovered on the property.

October 6

1:24 A.M. – 911 call of gunshots heard in Caroline. Police attended and found gun shot damage to the pharmacy. Under investigation.

8:47 A.M. – Wallet reported stolen from a vehicle in RMH.

9:52 A.M. – Money reported stolen during a church service held at the Clearwater College on Sunday. The suspect entered the building during the service and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The matter is under investigation.

11:04 A.M. – Attempted theft of a black FORD F350 from a residence on Range Road 6-5 & Twp Rd 40-1, Clearwater County. The passenger door and ignition were damaged.

2:56 P.M. – Report from a RMH car dealership advising that two males had stolen a key fob from a truck which had just been unloaded. The adult males, one of whom had an outstanding arrest warrant for being “Unlawfully at Large,” ran from police but both were located and arrested at a nearby Hotel. Both men, from the Edmonton area, are waiting to appear before a Justice in a JIR Hearing.

11:51 P.M. – Call of gunshots heard which targeted a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Police attended and located a bullet hole in the residence and other evidence. The investigation is continuing.

October 7

4:07 P.M. – Call of a very intoxicated male yelling and repeatedly falling down near a road on the O’Cheise First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested the individual was lodged in cells until sober.

October 9

3:38 P.M. – 3 calls of an impaired driver on Highway #22, Hwy #54, & SecHwy #761 area of Clearwater County. The vehicle was located and the adult male driver was arrested. Breath samples obtained were 3 times the legal limit. Charges are pending.

6:21 P.M. – Report of 2 males stunting on an ATV on SecHwy #591, Clearwater County.

October 10

7:27 A.M. – Male found sleeping in the ATM area of a local RMH bank. Sent on his way.

8:18 A.M. – Report of an assault at a residence in RMH. Police attended and arrested one individual. Charges are pending.

8:37 A.M. – Report of a suspicious vehicle in an alley in Caroline. Police attended and towed the unoccupied pickup truck which had a stolen licence plate on it.

12:26 P.M. – Gunshots heard at a residence east of RMH. Police attended and located a landowner who was shooting on an adjacent property at his personal gun range.

5:13 P.M. – Gunshots heard behind residence on O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

October 11

2:59 A.M. – Suspicious male attempting to gain access to a residence in RMH. Police attended and located the highly intoxicated male in the area, carrying a stick. He was arrested and released after sobering up and identifying himself.

8:00 P.M. – Male arrested for “Impaired Driving” after showing up at a rural residence intoxicated, while the police were already present. Charges pending.

October 12

2:16 P.M. – Stolen RV trailer recovered at a RMH residence by RMH Crime Reduction Unit. An adult male was arrested for failing to comply with previous release conditions. Further charges are pending.

October 13

8:44 A.M. – Customer vehicle broken into overnight at a RMH repair shop.

8:47 A.M. – Vehicle broken into while parked in a RMH motel overnight. A laptop, Nikon camera, and a Gucci watch were stolen along with some change.

9:29 A.M. – Copper wire stolen from a lease site north of Hwy #12, Clearwater County.

10:31 A.M. – Theft from storage containers after hole cut in fence at a facility in RMH.

October 14

8:37 A.M. – Call of a stolen yellow FORD pickup truck from Eckville spotted west of Caroline. Police located the suspect vehicle which attempted to ram the police vehicles. The spike belt was utilized to disable the vehicle and 2 prolific offenders were apprehended. Numerous charges are pending.

9:09 A.M. – Oilfield lease site broken into by cutting lock off gate. 8 batteries were stolen, valued at $2800.
