Trial dates set for Stettler man charged in father’s murder

A five-day trial will take place next year for a Stettler man charged in the death of his father last winter.

In Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench Monday, trial dates of Feb. 8-12, 2021 were set for 33-year-old Nicholas Climb Johnson, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Barrie Douglas Johnson on Jan. 15, 2020.

That’s when Stettler RCMP responded to a call of a deceased male at a residence. Mounties say responding members determined the death to be suspicious and took an adult male into custody without issue.

Police say an autopsy determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt and sharp force trauma.
