A proposed resolution has been submitted for the case of a man charged in a fatal shooting last year in Red Deer.

Chase Freed appeared in Red Deer provincial court Wednesday morning via CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre. The 19-year-old remains in custody on six charges including second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder with a firearm, fail to stop while being pursued by a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Court heard Wednesday morning that the Crown needs more time to consider the proposed resolution submitted by the defence. The case has been put over to Sept. 30.

C.J. “Jim” Williams, who was 69, was shot and killed outside the Walmart in south Red Deer on the night of December 20, 2019. Police believe two other people were also shot at during the incident.
