Woman in intensive care following downtown pedestrian hit and run

RCMP are searching for a suspect following a hit and run in downtown Red Deer that’s left a woman in hospital in intensive care.

Police say the woman was using the crosswalk at 47 Avenue and 49 Street shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday when they were struck by a two-tone red and gold Dodge Ram pickup truck, possibly a 2500 or 3500 model.

After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle did not attempt to stop.

The victim was airlifted to hospital in Calgary where she remains in intensive care.

A driver description is unavailable at this time.

Red Deer RCMP are asking anyone who may have information related to this incident, or can identify the driver, to contact the detachment at 403-343-5575.
