Drayton Valley RCMP report: August 27 – September 3

August 27

9:07 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complainant reported a break and enter to a trailer in a business yard. Tools stolen, under investigation, suspect identified.

9:13 am – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported a number of batteries as well as wire stolen from a lease site.

12:06 pm – Parkland County – Complainant reports that a relative gave their business phone number as a reference when obtaining a payday loan from the US. Now the loan sharks are calling their business line repeatedly. Under investigation.

12:20 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/39 – Complainant reported a stray round hay bail in the intersection. Member attended and moved the bail into the ditch with assistance from several other motorists.

1:21 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complaint received report of a shoplifter. Male entered a business and left with a number of items in a shopping bag. Under investigation, suspect identified by video.

5:12 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex parking lot – Complainant reported a verbal domestic with his estranged spouse, no charges.

August 28

12:00 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Complainant reported a male driving a white Malibu after smoking marijuana, along with other young persons drinking and partying, near the ski trails. Member attended and located only a smoldering fire. Further patrols for the Malibu were unsuccessful.

12:04 am – Drayton Valley – 42 Ave – Complainant reported tools stolen from storage at an apartment building. Possible suspects were a male and female in a white 4 door truck. Under investigation.

12:38 am – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a suspicious male in front of the liquor store. Member had observed the male just prior and was aware of his identity and that he was not known for any criminal behaviour. Complainant advised.

3:59 am – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported door open on a camper in the trailer park, no lights on. Member attended, nobody inside, did not appear to be damaged or forced open. The unit it was parked at was vacant.

12:15 pm – Brazeau County – Report regarding concerns over an ex and some unresolved property issues. Advised to call if things escalate or to have someone with them to make everyone more comfortable.

1:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of someone driving despite being ordered not to. Police checks indicated the person was fully licensed with no restrictions.

1:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Avenue – Report of found property, unknown where it came from. Police attended and recovered the property and trying to establish if it was stolen.

4:44 pm – Drayton Valley – Ongoing neighbour dispute and trespassing complaint. Police determined the person trespassing was just picking up their child who was playing with the other child in the yard of the residence.

4:50 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a neighbour having an illegal substance in their possession. Police educated the complainant that it was not a controlled substance.

5:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Twp 505 – 911 hang-up from a residence. Police attended, no emergency.

7:05 pm – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Park – Report of a dog bite that occurred yesterday. Animal control already dealing with the matter.

7:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Dispute over ownership of a dog, police attended and mediated the situation.

8:51 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Members assisted Edmonton Police Service who had followed a suspected stolen vehicle into town that had fled in Edmonton. The two suspects were located and arrested with charges pending by the Edmonton Police Service.

8:57 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Park – Landlord/tenant issue, advising landlord is trying to kick out a tenant without giving a proper eviction notice. Advised to report to the landlord/tenant board.

9:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Pleasant View Trailer Court – Residential alarm. Police attended, property reps in the process of changing the alarm system and set it off by accident.

10:20 pm – Drayton Valley – 49A Street – Stolen tent trailer from 2019 located in the alley. Residence owner spoken to and another male who indicated he purchased it approximately 4 months ago.

10:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Report of a missing senior from the retirement home. Shortly after the report was received, they called back stating they had returned and there were no issues.

August 29

4:45 am – Brazeau County – River Ravine Estates – Suspicious female walking around the neighbourhood with a flashlight, a dark SUV then attended with a male driver, spoke with the female and drove away, but the female was still there. Police attended, nobody was located.

7:30 am – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Park – Same landlord/tenant complaint as the previous day, same advice given.

12:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Report of 2 females fighting. Police attended, females were gone, one located shortly after. Police attempted to obtain a statement from her and the witness, but both refused.

9:37 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Alarm at a business. Members attended and cleared the building which was unsecure, no signs of forced entry. Property rep attended, nothing missing, new employees likely forgot to lock a door.

11:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Sighting a person police are looking for. The person had been located earlier in the day by police and spoken to and were no longer looking for them.

11:47 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Another report of a sighting of someone police are looking for, it was the same person police had spoken to earlier.

August 30

7:46 am – Drayton Valley – Request received from Leduc RCMP to execute an arrest warrant on a person for traffic-related offences. Members located the male and he was held until the outstanding fines could be paid or the sentence served in time.

10:42 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting they saw a female walking down a lease road a few days ago.

3:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a driver smoking marijuana while parked. Vehicle is a black Denali Truck. Members attended, driver issued a 24-hour suspension.

6:13 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting custody dispute. Police enforceable order in place. One party did not wish to return the child at the assigned time. Members not required to attend. Matter was solved with no issues.

6:14 pm – Brazeau County – RR 64 – 911 open line, members attended, all ok, no emergency.

August 31

9:21 am – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – 911 call with children heard in the background. Members attended location and found known person by the side of the road playing with a phone. Stated it was an accident and got scared so threw the phone down.

9:48 am – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Complainant reporting their blue Ford Focus was stolen. Vehicle had been seized in Strathcona on another file. Matter still under investigation.

11:26 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a break, enter and theft from storage unit. Member attended and spoke with the complainant who advised that as they were moving things out they discovered several items missing.

1:50 pm – Brazeau County – Drayton Valley members requested to assist Breton members with a stolen vehicle out of Lindale. Members attended location and patrolled the area with negative results. Suspects had attended the Lindale Hall in a red vehicle and then stole a Green 2012 F-150.

2:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting a hit and run. Someone hit the rear end of their 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and then took off.

2:34 pm – Brazeau cCounty – Complainant wanting to report a female driving without a drivers licence. Female is driving a black Buick.

2:59 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting theft of black 2017 24-Foot Tild Deck Trailer. Last seen 2 weeks ago.

7:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complainant reporting threats received after they accidentally transferred money to the wrong account after making a purchase. Member attended and spoke with all parties. No threats.

7:24 pm – Brazeau County – Buck Creek – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a silver Pontiac 4 door. Driver is tailgating and passing vehicles at high speeds. Vehicle not located.

7:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Report received of a male and female arguing. Male has poured gas on a vehicle in the alley behind. Male took off. Members located male at the Coach Motel. He was arrested for assault, dangerous driving, driving while suspended, and fail to comply. Male held for a bail hearing.

8:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting suspicious activity from a red and grey van parked on 52 street. Complainant stated that there are people living out of the van, taking apart bikes and spray painting them. Member attended and located the vehicle. No one in or around the vehicle. Vehicle is parked legally. No evidence of any wrongdoing.

8:53 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a possible impaired driver. Vehicle is a dark blue Ford F-350 that is swerving all over the road and going in and out of the ditch. Member patrolled the area and located the vehicle parked at a residence.

10:11 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a possible impaired driver in a white Chevrolet truck with a rack on the back. Vehicle is swerving all over the road and driving at inconsistent speeds. Member attended location and patrolled the area with negative results.

September 1

Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a verbal dispute between them and their ex who is drunk and doesn`t want to leave. Members attended, other party had left prior to arrival. Patrols in area made and other party located.

2:35 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle driving through the parking lot. Vehicle is a black Jeep. Members attended area and patrolled, vehicle not located.

3:34 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting excessive noise. Loud party going on. Member attended and spoke with people at the residence who agreed to move the party indoors.

10:04 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting that their ex-landlord assaulted them by elbowing them as they walked by.

2:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting a hit and run while parked in the parking lot. Damage to the rear passenger bumper of their 2018 white Toyota 4 Runner.

2:45 pm – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Black Buick had been parked by Twp Rd 492. Members attended vehicle not stolen. Registered Owner spoken to.

3:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver on Hwy 22. Lone male driving a grey or beige half-ton was tailgating and speeding.

3:34 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reporting an unknown female is on their driveway and stated they were lost. Member attended and located female and relocated her to a known place.

4:15 pm – Brazeau County – Second call received regarding the black Buick parked on
Twp Rd 492.

5:49 pm – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting a woman in distress near the side of the road with her dog. Female was crying. Complainant took them some food and water. Member attended and identified female who was waiting for a ride. Had come from Calgary and got stranded in Drayton Valley. All ok.

8:16 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting children beating up someone in the schoolyard. Members attended and located a large group of youth who advised there had been a fight between two males, who had since stopped, shook hands, and left.

8:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting an unknown male wearing jeans assaulted them as they were driving around the neighbourhood. Male had been walking in the middle of the road. Complainant had stopped and male began getting aggressive and jumped in the window grabbing their arm. Member met with the complainant and male suspect.

8:53 pm – Parkland County – Complainant reported a family dispute. Members attended and spoke with all parties involved. Verbal dispute only.

9:29 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a vehicle with no licence plate. Blue Ford Focus. Member attended area and patrolled without success. Vehicle not located.

10:12 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reporting suspicious vehicle. Dark burgundy Dodge truck is parked in the ditch. An older two-tone red and white pick up with a male pulled up and was standing outside talking to person in Dodge. Member attended and patrolled the area. No vehicles matching the descriptions provided were observed.

September 2

12:36 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting an intoxicated female sitting in the parking lot in the rain rocking back and forth. Female is wearing black spandex leggings and has black hair. Member attended and located known female. Courtesy ride provided to residence.

1:09 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting exchange of inappropriate pictures being sent to 12-year-old. Parent confiscated phone. Member attended and spoke with complainant. Matter still under investigation.

8:27 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a Ford F-250 green half-ton. The driver ran through a stop sign. Complainant followed and driver apologized.

8:59 am – Brazeau County – Elk River Road – Complainant reporting a single-vehicle rollover with 2 occupants. Both occupants were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

11:12 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reporting they were northbound on RR 75 when a deer came out of the ditch and collided with their vehicle.

12:45 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting a possible break and enter to an empty building within the past week. Overhead garage door had been opened and there was clothing and rags inside. Member attended, building secured. Nothing stolen.

1:05 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant requesting removal of male who is sleeping outside.

3:41 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a house is being moved on Hwy 620 and is taking up the entire road. No pilot cars.

5:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting a male is laying on the sidewalk in front of store. Members attended and located known male who was sleeping on the sidewalk. Male asked to move along and did so with no issues.

5:45 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complaint regarding child custody. Parenting order is not clear. Members spoke with both parties and they agreed to exchange child next week.

7:24 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Vehicle is a grey Pontiac Grand Prix and is in a field. Drivers window is broken. Member attended, vehicle had been reported stolen out of Edmonton.

8:41 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Silver Chevrolet pickup driving around on road off Hwy 753. Member patrolled area, vehicle not located.

9:11 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant requesting member conduct a wellbeing check on male. Male located, no issues.

September 3

12:20 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant advised that a male had thrown a rock at their windshield. Possible suspects.

1:00 am – Drayton Valley – Derrick Lounge – Complainant reporting they heard loud arguing and screaming. Member attended, no commotion or noise. No one in distress.

1:19 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting someone smashed the window of the DV food store. Nothing taken.

7:43 am – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting an abandoned vehicle in the parking lot. Back window is broken. Members attended, vehicle not stolen. Member contacted the registered owner and spoke with them. Matter is still under investigation.
