Rocky RCMP Report August 20-27

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of August 20-27

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

August 20

5:26 A.M. – White 2001 DODGE Dakota stolen from residence in RMH.

10:08 A.M. – Report of tires slashed on vehicle at residence in RMH.

12:08 P.M. – Jerry can stolen from residence in Caroline.

1:05 P.M. – Commercial B&E to vehicle mechanical compound. Fence was found cut open.

August 21

00:30 A.M. – Complaint from a campground west of RMH, advising that a group of campers are partying with a total disregard for others.

5:19 A.M. – Complainant called RCMP informing them that he caught someone trying to steal his dirt bike from the back of his truck while parked at his residence in a mobile home park, west of RMH. The culprit fled in a small car.

6:40 A.M. – While making patrols of Caroline, the RMH Crime Reduction Unit were waved down by a resident, who advised that his Jeep Cherokee had just been stolen. After receiving a tip from the public, the vehicle was later recovered at a local gas station where two males were arrested (1 adult & 1 youth). Both were on previous Probation Orders. They were released by a Justice of the Peace, with conditions, after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing was held.

1:21 P.M. – Lock cut off shed at a residence in RMH.

1:27 P.M. – 1997 brown Pontiac Sunfire stolen from parking lot of apartment complex in RMH.

1:49 P.M. – FORD F350 stolen from residence in Clearwater County on Range Road 7-1. Recovered by Drayton Valley RCMP in Brazeau County. It had numerous batteries and cables in it.

3:32 P.M. – Bicycle stolen from RMH residence but was later recovered down the street.

4:30 P.M. – Report of a bankcard theft and money withdrawn fraudulently from account.

4:42 P.M. – An assault reported at a RMH residence. Under investigation.

6:29 P.M. – Calls were received, advising of an unsafe driver on HwY #11, west of RMH. The vehicle was travelling at excessive speed and was passing other vehicles on the shoulder, almost causing collisions. A red mini van, matching the description, was stopped by police and an adult male driver from Edmonton was arrested for Impaired Driving. Breath samples were provided well over the legal limit. The vehicle was seized and his driver’s licence was suspended.

August 22

8:12 A.M. – Clothing and a weed eater found by the Rocky museum.

12:00 P.M. – Driveway gate damaged on property on Range Road 5-0 near CONDOR.

August 23

9:14 A.M. – Grey 2017 DODGE Caravan stolen from a residence on O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

12:06 P.M. – 2015 Black CHEVROLET TAHOE stolen from Brazeau Dam area.

6:57 P.M. – 2009 red GMC Sierra stolen from a residence in Clearwater County, off of SecHwy #756.

7:05 P.M. – B&E to an abandoned residence off of Hwy #11 near RMH. Under investigation.

9:48 P.M. – Report of store employee who had been assaulted with bear spray on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Police attended along with EMS. Cash was taken from the till during the robbery. The matter is under investigation.

August 24

8:09 A.M. – 911 call of male trespassing on property owner’s land on Range Road 5-0, north of Condor. Police attended and arrested a male

8:20 A.M. – White 2006 CHEVROLET Silverado stolen from a residence in RMH.

9:10 A.M. – B&E into Alberta Forestry / Fish & Wildlife compound in RMH. Culprit(s) cut a hole in the fence and broke into 3 vehicles by smashing the windows

1:18 P.M. – Theft of copper wire from Telus box at a rural location in Clearwater County.

1:26 P.M. – RMH Crime Reduction Unit arrested a prolific offender in RMH after observing the male with a female with whom he was not to have contact with as well as having outstanding warrants for his arrest. Methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine were located along with various weapons and drug paraphernalia, including used and loaded needles. The adult male & female are facing numerous charges including for multiple breaches of multiple court release orders.

3:59 P.M. – Police attempted to stop a vehicle on the SUNCHILD First Nations Reserve, however, it fled at a high rate of speed but was later located at a residence where an adult male fled on foot after being told he was under arrest. He was tracked to another house by Police Dog Services where he was arrested. Upon being searched, methamphetamine was discovered on his person. Numerous charges are pending.

9:44 P.M. – 911 call of a male who had a shotgun pointed at him and threatened by another male on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

August 25

7:33 A.M. – B&E to gas plant in Ferrier area of Clearwater County. Tools, a pressure washer, cleaning supplies, and other miscellaneous items were stolen. Bolt cutters were used to cut off the locks.

8:12 A.M. – Quads stolen overnight from residence on Forest Close, Clearwater County. One quad found in the ditch while another is still missing, a red 250 Artic Cat.

11:35 A.M. – B&E to a carwash in RMH.

3:35 P.M. – Police conducted a search warrant of a residence in RMH. Methamphetamine, weapons, and stolen property were seized. Charges pending.

10:48 P.M. – Shoplifter reported at local RMH convenience store.

August 26

1:35 A.M. – Police stopped a vehicle in RMH. The driver failed the roadside alcohol screening test and was subsequently arrested. Breath samples, over the legal limit, were provided. Charges are pending.

3:15 P.M. – B&E reported to a motor home while parked at a RMH auto repair shop. Numerous items stolen.

8:17 P.M. – Call of a B&E to a residence in RMH. Clothing was stolen and the complainant reported to have been assaulted. The matter is under investigation.

August 27

9:46 A.M. – B&E reported to O’Chiese Community Center. Window smashed to gain entry.

12:33 P.M. – B&E reported to a shed at a residence in RMH. A lawn mower, weed whacker, and a red 1984 HONDA 200cc ATV trike were stolen. Value of items $4500.

2:37 P.M. – 3 young males reported throwing rocks and breaking a camera at the RMH Community Center. Under investigation.
