Central zone down to 30 active cases of COVID-19

Alberta is reporting 144 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing the province’s total to 12,748.

The number of active cases is listed at 1,144, an increase of 60, while recoveries have reached 11,374, an increase of 82.

The province completed 9,866 COVID-19 tests on Thursday, Aug. 20.

There are currently 43 Albertans in hospital for the virus, including nine in intensive case.

Two more deaths were reported Friday, bringing Alberta’s fatality count from the virus to 230.

The central zone now has just 30 active cases and 530 recoveries. Two people in the zone are in hospital because of the virus, neither is in intensive care. The number of COVID-19 related deaths in the zone remains seven.

In Red Deer there are now eight active cases of COVID-19, a decrease of one from Thursday’s report. The number of recoveries in the city is now listed at 67.

Elsewhere, Red Deer County has one active case, Lacombe County has four, Mountain View County has two, Kneehill County has one and the County of Stettler has three.
