Red Deer’s Bergheim, Park win at Alberta Golf U17, U15, U13 championships

Alberta Springs was a busy golf course on Wednesday with the final rounds of the Alberta Golf U17, U15, U13 Championships.

Cole Bergheim of Red Deer, continuing his incredible 2020 season to date, defeated Ethan Howes of Fort Saskatchewan with a birdie on the second playoff hole to take the U17 Boys title.

Bergheim, Howes and Calgary’s Nico Aulino all finished the two-round tournament at minus-three before Aulino bowed out on the first playoff hole, setting the stage for Bergheim to edge Howes on the second.

Red Deer’s Eileen Park won the U13 Girls division with a two-round score of five-over par.

Park shot rounds of 76 Tuesday and 73 Wednesday to finish a whopping 19 shots better than the rest of the pack.

Serin Girard of Red Deer came in second in the U13 Girls division.

In the U17 Girls division Georgia Barr of Calgary and Alexa Wingnean of Edmonton battled all day long before Barr took the title after shooting a two-over 74.

Jon Vinge from Calgary took the U15 Boys crown, Jayla Kucy of Camrose won the U15 Girls division, and the U13 Boys division saw Peter Hlushak of Spruce Grove edge Lyndon Kuryvial of Taber by two strokes.
