Drayton Valley RCMP report: July 2 – July 9

July 2

10:07 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant called to report their ex had taken their car and registered it in their name. Member advised complainant that the property is to be divided equally.

12:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Complainant attended the detachment to report a fraud and misuse of credit card. Complainant stated they knew who was responsible but would not provide their name.

1:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious male sitting in the parking lot in a maroon Dodge Ram. The male was making staff uncomfortable and has attempted to give one of the cashiers gifts. Member attended and spoke with male who moved along and stated he would sit somewhere else.

1:42 pm – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reporting a theft from a construction trailer. Locks were cut and a water pump, grease gun, and jerry can full of fuel stolen.

2:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with a meth pipe and some meth which they had found. Destroyed locally.

3:21 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting known male is looking through cans and had hands full of electronics. Members attended and located male who had 2 cell phones which were his.

3:46 pm – Tomahawk – Complaint received from 6-year-old who has been texting their mother in Edmonton saying that their grandma won’t wake up and they are hungry. Members attended, Grandma had taken some medication and was awake upon arrival of members.

4:13 pm – Rocky Rapids – Family dispute regarding brothers trespassing on property. Member attended and advised that the matter is a civil issue.

4:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complainant reporting they saw a sea can full of their belongings along with a conspiracy theory on people following them. Several calls have been received recently from this individual who is suffering from paranoia.

5:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Request from hospital to assist with an aggressive male. Member attended and escorted male to Ponoka.

6:06 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 510 – Complainant reporting a naked child is running in the traffic. Members attended and spoke with parent who advised they were running around on the driveway. Member advised that it is not safe to allow child to run around unsupervised.

8:16 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a dark grey GMC Sierra has been parked outside for over an hour. The vehicle is blocking traffic for other customers. Members attended. Driver was there to pick up a friend.

July 3

4:03 am – Parkland County – Complainant reporting a suspicious green Chevrolet Venture Van is driving up the road and appears to be checking out residences. Members located vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Driver clearly intoxicated. Vehicle towed, driver given 24-hour suspension.

5:33 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant calling to report intoxicated female in lobby. Female is acting strange and is aggressive. Members attended location and provided female with a courtesy ride to Ramada Hotel.

8:32 AM – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting they were travelling north on Hwy 759 when a deer came from the west ditch and collided with the right side of their 2015 Dodge Ram.

8:42 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting someone paid for 3 stacks of firewood, then took 4. Male was identified, and did return to the store and pay for the 4th stack once members contacted him.

10:51 am – 54 Avenue – Complainant reporting female with crowbar just broke the front door. Members attended and located female inside residence. Female stated they were there to see male who was located inside the residence. Male advised that female was allowed to be there and was not concerned about the damage to the door.

11:22 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a yellow Peterbilt towing a flatbed had been cutting people off and was driving erratically. Member located the truck, driver was not impaired.

1:23 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting a gravel truck driving unsafe, passing on double solid line. Member did patrols, truck not located.

1:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Request for members to attend to keep the peace as male has been evicted and is moving out. Members attended and spoke with complainant who agreed to allow male two days to move out.

1:54 pm – Brazeau County – Wiley West – Members were called regarding a capsized canoe near the boat launch. Members attended, 2 individuals were stranded on an island. Fire called to assist with boat. All persons accounted for.

2:25 pm – Drayton Valley – Splash Park – Complainant reporting teenagers at the park drinking. Member attended and conducted a walkthrough, no teenagers located. Complainant would like members to educate teenagers on drinking.

8:43 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex parking lot – Members on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Male driver issued a warning for stunting.

10:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting known female is at that location with a bunch of heroin.

July 4

12:04 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a noise issue across the back alley. Lots of noise, occupants are working on a vehicle. Ongoing issue. Member attended and advised occupants to stop working on vehicle.

2:47 am – Brazeau County – Wiley West – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on individual. Complainant called back to advise to disregard as person was located.

5:07 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Member on patrol located a Ford Windstar impeding traffic. Query of plate did not match vehicle. Vehicle towed.

11:11 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting that while they were driving north on Hwy 22, they were passing a vehicle and then a black Ford truck with a red stripe passed them. The vehicle was driving very fast and scared complainant.

11:39 am – Drayton Valley – Walmart parking lot – 911 hang-up x 3. Disconnects on callback. Member made patrols in area which were negative.

11:51 am – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Complainants attended detachment to obtain advice regarding their daughter. Complainants are concerned and wanted some advice.

3:28 pm – Rocky Rapids – 911 abandoned call, male on the line, could hear a person in the background becoming agitated. Members attended and located known male who had assaulted both complainant and spouse. Male had left in white Dodge truck. Members located male who was arrested and charged with assault and mischief. Male held for hearing and released on promise to pay.

4:56 pm – Drayton Valley – Country Style Trailer Court – Complainant requesting police to assist as they are having bad thoughts. Member attended residence and transported male to hospital.

6:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street –Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a grey Honda Civic. Male has been drinking at the bar and is now leaving. Members patrolled the area and other drinking establishments. Vehicle not located.

6:54 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for speeding.

8:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Avenue – 911 hang-up, members attended location and spoke to male who advised they had not seen or heard of anything.

July 5

7:02 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a warning for headlight.

8:36 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – 911 call received requesting police assistance. Members attended and spoke with complainant who was not cooperative and told members to leave. Members entered the residence to ensure all was safe. Caller would not say why they called.

9:35 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Member observed a window broken in a vehicle. Tools stolen.

2:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 58 Street – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in the Omniplex parking lot. Newer beige Chevrolet truck is towing a female in a wheelchair in the parking lot. Member attended and located vehicle. Driver issued several violation tickets.

2:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Commercial alarm at restaurant. Employee accidentally opened a door that triggered an alarm. Alarm False.

3:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for operating vehicle without registration.

3:40 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a hit and run. Black Cadillac hauling a small royal cargo enclosed trailer hit complainant’s vehicle ripping off the driver’s side mirror.

3:58 pm – Yellowhead County – Request to assist EMS. Driver hit a cow on the highway, driver has a broken jaw. Turns out no collision, driver was transporting male who had been kicked in the face and Drayton Valley was the closest hospital.

8:29 PM – Rocky Rapids – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a warning for speeding.

9:10 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting they observed two individuals who were intoxicated get into a vehicle. Member conducted patrols. Vehicle located and traffic stop conducted. Known females admitted to arguing. Not intoxicated.

9:15 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for speeding. Warning issued for displaying improper licence plate.

10:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Warning issued for aftermarket tint.

10:03 pm – Drayton Valley – RR 73 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for speeding.

11:43 pm – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for failure to provide officer with financial responsibility card.

July 6

12:11 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting suspicious vehicles in area. Members attended area and conducted patrols, persons and vehicles not located.

12:56 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted traffic stop. Driver issued with violation ticket for failing to produce licence. Warning issued for operating a motor vehicle without a licence and failure to provide insurance card.

11:25 am – Brazeau County – Complainant called looking for advice on how to deal with two vehicles that have been abandoned on their property for 2+ years.

12:25 pm – Drayton Valley – Police were called to assist with a mental health call. The person was located and arrested under the mental health act and was transported to the Centennial Hospital in Ponoka.

12:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Fraud reported, suspicious PayPal transactions were withdrawn from the complainant’s bank account.

12:44 pm – Brazeau County – Police were called to assist with the apprehension of a person under a mental health warrant. The person was later located and transported to the Centennial Hospital in Ponoka.

1:01 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Report of a lost red iPhone with a cracked screen, unknown serial number.

2:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Report of road rage. Police attended, the suspect vehicle had already left.

2:49 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Driving complaint, vehicles not located.

2:57 pm – Brazeau County – Brazeau Dam – Found wakeboard, person who found it was attempting to locate the owner via Facebook, but wanted police to be aware in case someone calls looking for it.

3:57 pm – Brazeau County – Twp 494 – Report of a roofing shingle on the highway. Police attended, no shingle was located.

7:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Police were called regarding a property dispute, matter appears to be civil.

9:21 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of a possible sighting of a stolen trailer. Police attended and confirmed that the trailer was not stolen.

9:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Report of a suspicious male that walked up to the residence, appeared to try the door, then walked into the back yard before disappearing. Police attended and patrolled the area, the male was not located. The property was checked, no evidence of attempted B&E.

11:05 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – 911 call stating they needed police and hung up. On call back, the person stated there were loud people outside the building who wouldn’t leave. Police attended, nobody was located.

July 7

12:14 am – Drayton Valley – Police were called to do a mental health welfare check. Police attended, the person appeared to be fine.

4:00 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – While on patrol, police located a vehicle with a license plate that had been reported stolen attached. Police confirmed the vehicle was not stolen and seized the plate.

8:29 am – Brazeau County – Joshua Blvd – Residential alarm. Police attended, no signs of forced entry, appeared to be a false alarm.

11:30 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Report of an unwanted person at an apartment complex. Police attended, it was a tenant.

11:41 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – 3rd party report of a possible missing child. Police attended and confirmed the child was safe with family.

11:52 am – Brazeau County – RR 71 south of Hwy 22 – Report of a large amount of tar dumped in the ditch on a lease site.

12:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Lost driver’s license reported.

3:42 pm – Drayton Valley – Brougham Drive – Attempted theft of a vehicle overnight, suspect was interrupted by staff and took off.

4:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Report of a break-in to the shack behind the museum. Police attended and checked the property. The door had been forced open, but there was nothing reported missing. No surveillance on site.

5:00 pm – Brazeau County – Abandoned vehicle on a lease site.

5:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Report of drug use at a residence.

6:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – While following up on another matter, police located a male violating their conditions of release. The male was arrested and released for court for violating a release order.

6:12 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Call to assist EMS with a possible overdose. Police attended, 3 people were sitting outside the restaurant eating, nobody had overdosed.

6:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Report of threats uttered via text message.

6:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Report of a female walking down the street that appeared to have a head injury. Police attended and patrolled the area and conducted door knocks where the female was believed to have gone, but nobody could be found matching the description provided.

July 8

12:29 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Police were called to a domestic dispute.

12:48 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Two trucks were broken into and some miscellaneous contents stolen.

5:22 am – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Commercial alarm. The property rep attended before police could arrive and confirmed the building was secure and the alarm appeared to be false.

6:27 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Report of a male passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. Police attended, the male had become tired while waiting for a friend and fell asleep. No signs of impairment.

6:31 am – Brazeau County – 911 hang-up from a business with ongoing telephone issues.

9:12 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Report of two people possibly breaking into a business. Police attended, located, and arrested the two suspects, no damage was found and no stolen property was found in their possession. The property reps indicated they wanted no further action. The two suspects were released without charges.

10:06 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Avenue – Single vehicle collision with a light standard. No injuries.

10:15 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Sometime overnight a green Dodge Ram 1500, Alberta license plate CDY-6836, with “WAYLON” on the back window was stolen from a residence.

10:51 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Report of harassment via social media. Still under investigation.

11:57 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Possible sighting of a stolen vehicle. Later discovered to have been in a different jurisdiction, sent to the proper Detachment for followup.

2:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Street –Report of theft of money. Police followed up with the complainant and provided guidance. Still under investigation.

4:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue –Report from individual suffering from Mental Health issues. Members contacted the subject and were able to help the subject through the matter to their satisfaction.

7:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Traffic Stop. Driver issued violation ticket for failing to provide financial responsibility card.

8:47 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of possible subject inside of residence breaking in. Police attended, no subject located, no signs of entry.

9:26 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue –Report of harassing communications by phone, wanted it reported for information.

10:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street –Report of fire burning. Located 2 persons making a fire to keep warm, wood was wet creating the smoke. Fire was put out by the persons responsible.

July 9

2:28 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue –Report of assault at a hotel. Police attended, arrested one individual for the offence. Released via an appearance notice for Court on September 15, 2020.

10:34 am – Brazeau County – Residential Panic Alarm. Police attended and confirmed no issues.

10:45 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street –Report of break and enter into residence, cameras captured suspect, file still under investigation.
