LACOMBE- We were thrilled to see faces and host guests, and in true fashion support was better than ever as we re-opened our doors and patios this month. June’s “Dad Bod” burger was the perfect kick-off to summer.

Lacombe’s Greg and Jason Lunn of D&M Concrete Products helped provide the creative juices for this stack of a burger which included an Alberta beef patty, jack cheese, bacon, mushrooms, crispy onions, sunny fried egg, sliced tomato, mixed greens, chipotle aioli, avocado crema and a pickle spear on a brioche bun.

$2 from every burger sold went directly towards Lacombe Community Addiction and Mental Health Office–Children’s Services. The team of therapists that operate out of the Lacombe Community Health Centre offer one to one support to children and youth who are dealing with complex addiction and/or mental health needs. In addition to individual therapy, the team also provides groups for both parents and youth to assist in dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, addiction and other mental health concerns. This team works closely with school partners, the Primary Care Network as well as the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre.

Your support of the Burger of the Month Program, and the generosity of the Lunn brothers and D&M Concrete who stepped up to match the donation, means $3,068 was donated to Lacombe Community Addiction and Mental Health Office–Children’s Services today to help support these services for children and youth in Lacombe and area. This summer the therapist team is running a small pilot group to promote mental wellness activities through peer connection and outdoor physical activity. Proceeds will help cover costs for group materials like craft supplies and games.

Thanks to the incredible community support we see for our Burger of the Month program month after month, we have had the opportunity to give back over $60,000 to local charities over the past 41 months.

July’s Burger of the Month is the “Rogie”, created in collaboration with local guest chef Becky Murray. It includes ground chuck Alberta beef patty, 4 perogies, sliced bratwust sausage, sautéed onion and bacon, parmesan aioli and sour cream on a pretzel bun.

$2 from every burger sold will go towards The Reading College, a program of the Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools.
